Sweet, Fizzy, and Totally Addictive: Inside Peach City Soda by BoostBC
Sometimes the best business ideas start with the most unexpected inspiration. For Peach City Soda in Penticton, it all began with a pregnancy craving.
Owner Jocelyn explains that her sister kept seeing dirty sodas all over social media and was determined to try one. "At first, we were a little hesitant," she says. "Mixing soda, syrups, cream, and toppings sounded unusual, but once we finally tried one, we were hooked."
What started as experimenting with flavour combinations at home quickly turned into something much bigger. After realizing there wasn't anywhere in the Okanagan, especially Penticton, offering a true dirty soda experience, the sisters saw an opportunity. "We saw an opportunity to bring something completely new, fun, and exciting to the community," says Jocelyn. "What started as a simple craving turned into a passion project, and now we get to introduce people to their new favourite drink every day."
If you're new to dirty sodas, Peach City Soda has the perfect introduction. Their signature drink, the Just Peachy, has quickly become a local favourite. The refreshing creation combines Dr Pepper with peach purée, peach and vanilla flavours, and is topped with house-made vanilla cold foam and a peach candy stick. "It's sweet, creamy, refreshing, and packed with peach flavour," says Jocelyn. "If you could bottle up summer in the Okanagan, it would taste a lot like this."
The creativity behind the menu is one of the things that makes Peach City Soda so unique. Inspiration comes from everywhere, including desserts, nostalgic treats, seasonal ingredients, and customer suggestions. The team spends countless hours testing and refining recipes until every ingredient serves a purpose.
While the drinks are certainly the star of the show, Jocelyn says the community's response has been the most rewarding surprise. "Dirty sodas weren't really a thing in Penticton when we started," she explains. "There was definitely some uncertainty about how people would respond."
Fortunately, the response has been overwhelmingly positive."We've had customers excited to try something different, bring their friends and family back, and become regulars," says Jocelyn. "The connections we've been able to make with our community have been the best part of this journey by far."
Looking ahead, Peach City Soda has plenty of exciting plans bubbling away. New drinks, seasonal menus, limited-time specials, community events, festivals, and private bookings are all on the horizon. "The future is looking sweet," says Jocelyn. "We have lots of ideas we're excited about, and we can't wait to share them."
One thing is clear Peach City Soda isn't just serving drinks. They're creating experiences, building community, and adding a little extra sweetness to life in Penticton, one dirty soda at a time.
