Lords and Ladies, Knights and Jesters, It is time to dust off your cloaks and prepare for a day of magic and merriment! A place for everyone to be their most authentic and weird selves, the South Okanagan Renaissance Fair is proud to open it's doors to people of all ages for a fun filled day. On Saturday, May 30th 2026, attendees will see a variety of entertainment throughout the day, and don't forget to bring your relics and artifacts for trade.

Ashley Berney started attending craft markets a few years ago, and noticed that there was no event specific for the fantasy-themed art here in the Okanagan. Not only that, but Penticton lacked festivals for people off all ages to step outside themselves and play pretend. "I think the world is lacking spaces where there isn't room for judgment; a place where your weird is accepted." - Ashley Berney

Once the idea was born, more and more people began to offer help. A shout out to Janell, Sarah, Ace, Jamee, Isaiah, Lillian and Pentictoknight for all their hard work in organizing this amazing event! "The number of people ready to lend a hand speaks volumes about our community and everyone's readiness for this event! Our planning team has been amazing. I thought it was important to mention all the people coming together to make this possible for our community at a time when we all need some laughter." - Ashley Berney

Of course, no Renaissance Fair would be complete without it's bustling marketplace. Althought many vendors have signed up already, Ashley is still looking for more local artisans and on-theme vendors to sell their handcrafted goods. They are currently at capacity for jewelery merchants, but encourage all others to apply here. They are also looking for kind, reliable humans to help on festival day. No experience is required, only a good heart and a willingness to help. Anyone interested in volunteering can apply here.

There is no admission fee for the event, donations will be accepted if you wish to do so. They cannot wait to see people of all ages bonding over their shared love of fantasy and what the different vendors will bring to the market. A King and Queen will be named at the event, noblemen will be in their finest wares, and a trading post will be open to trade your fantasy themed, or D&D themed relics with one another. There will truly be something for every fantasy lover to enjoy. For more information and to follow along, you can find it here: Facebook or Instagram
