Summer is the perfect time to get outside, stay active, and connect with others in the community. If you've been inspired by the excitement surrounding Kelowna's Year of Sport, now is a great opportunity to join in on the action yourself.

Whether you're looking to reignite your competitive spirit, meet new people, or simply enjoy some fun in the sun, Kelowna offers a wide variety of sports leagues and recreational programs for all ages and skill levels. From beginners trying something new to experienced athletes looking for a challenge, there's something for everyone.

Registration for several popular summer sports leagues is already underway, and spots are expected to fill quickly. Slo-Pitch Softball registration closes on June 7, making now the time to gather your friends and sign up.

Volleyball enthusiasts also have several opportunities to get involved this season. Registration for both Beach Volleyball and Indoor Volleyball opens on June 3 and closes on June 15. Those interested in tournament play can look forward to the

One of the best things about Kelowna's recreation programs is their accessibility. Most leagues are co-ed and offer a range of competition levels, from recreational play to more competitive divisions. Participants can also choose from various locations, schedules, and facilities throughout the city, making it easier than ever to find a program that fits their lifestyle.

Not quite ready to join a league? No problem. Kelowna also offers Learn to Play programs and drop-in sports throughout the summer. These programs are ideal for anyone looking to build confidence, learn new skills, or simply stay active without committing to a full season.

According to Community Recreation Coordinator Cheryl Browne, the city is committed to providing affordable and inclusive opportunities for residents to participate in sports and recreation. Whether it's your favourite sport or something you've always wanted to try, there are plenty of options available to help you get moving.

Summer sports are about more than just exercise. They offer opportunities to build friendships, improve mental well-being, and become more connected to the community. With so many programs available, there's never been a better time to get involved.

If you're ready to make this summer your most active one yet, be sure to register early and secure your spot before leagues fill up.
