Walking Together on the Coldest Night of the Year By BoostBC

On one of the coldest nights of winter, something powerful happens across Canada. Thousands of people bundle up, lace their boots, and step outside not for themselves, but for those who face the cold every day without a safe place to call home. This is the Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY). The national event is organized by Blue Sea Philanthropy, while hundreds of local charities host their own walks. Boost BC is very happy to have recently donated to the cause.

BoostBC strongly believes in supporting community especially our local community. Boost BC is proud to support the Coldest Night of the Year because we in believe strong communities that are built when people come together to care for those facing hardship. By donating to CNOY, we’re doing a small part to help provide warmth, safety, and hope to individuals and youth experiencing homelessness, while standing alongside organizations that create lasting, positive change across our communities.

CNOY is a nationwide winter walk that raises funds and awareness for charities supporting people experiencing homelessness, hunger, and hurt. Hosted in hundreds of communities, the event brings neighbours together for a 2 km or 5 km walk that’s about more than distance, it’s about empathy, compassion, and action.

One of the organizations supported through CNOY is Covenant House, Canada’s largest charity dedicated to serving youth experiencing homelessness. Covenant House provides safe housing, food, health care, education, and life-changing supports to young people who have nowhere else to turn. For many youth, Covenant House is more than a shelter it’s a lifeline and a path toward hope, stability, and independence.

Funds raised through the Coldest Night of the Year help Covenant House and other local charities continue their critical work: keeping doors open, offering warm meals, providing mental health support, and ensuring that no one has to face hardship alone.

CNOY reminds us that while winter is cold, community is powerful. Every step taken and every dollar raised sends a clear message: people matter, and help is possible.
