Game On, Kelowna! Memorial Cup 2026 Is Coming to Town by BoostBC

The return of the 2026 Memorial Cup is set to bring excitement, celebration and a major economic boost to Kelowna as the city prepares to host the prestigious championship tournament for the first time in more than 20 years. From May 21–31, 2026, hockey fans from across Canada will gather at Prospera Place to watch the nation’s top junior hockey teams compete for one of the sport’s most iconic trophies.

The 10-day event is expected to generate an estimated $22.5 million in economic impact, providing a significant boost for local businesses, restaurants, hotels and tourism operators. With thousands of visitors anticipated to fill the downtown core, the tournament is expected to create a vibrant atmosphere throughout the city while showcasing Kelowna on a national stage.
Mayor Tom Dyas said the city is eager to welcome the Memorial Cup back to the community and celebrate one of Canada’s most cherished sporting traditions.
“As a community, we’re thrilled to welcome the Memorial Cup back to Kelowna,” Dyas said. “This is an opportunity to showcase our city on a national stage, celebrate one of Canada’s most storied sporting traditions and bring residents and visitors together for an unforgettable experience.”

While the on-ice competition will be the centrepiece of the tournament, organizers are also planning a citywide celebration designed to engage residents and visitors of all ages. Festivities begin on May 21 with the ceremonial arrival of the Memorial Cup, featuring a canoe landing, parade and official welcome celebration at Stuart Park. The evening Community Kickoff event will include live music, local food vendors and entertainment for families and fans alike.
Throughout the tournament, the Real Canadian Superstore Hockey Hub outside Prospera Place will host live entertainment, game broadcasts and festival-style activities. Families can also enjoy the Canco Family Zone at Stuart Park, featuring interactive games and activities for younger visitors. Hockey enthusiasts will have the opportunity to explore the Hockey Hall of Fame Experience at the Laurel Packinghouse, showcasing memorabilia and interactive exhibits celebrating Canada’s hockey history.

As Kelowna prepares to host athletes, fans and visitors from across the country, the Memorial Cup is expected to further strengthen the city’s reputation as a premier destination for major sporting events and community celebrations.
Motorists should be aware of temporary road closures on May 21 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. along sections of Abbott Street, Bernard Avenue and Water Street during the Memorial Cup Arrival Parade. Residents are encouraged to plan alternate routes and expect delays in the downtown area. For tournament schedules, event details and ticket information, visit kelowna.ca/memorialcup2026
